Past artist in residence:  Rogier Oversteegen, Netherlands

As a painter from the Netherlands known for working with oil on canvas and mixed media on paper. I spent May 2023 in the beautiful Riad Dar Drouj as an artist-in-residence. Inspired by the vibrant colors and light of Morocco, I used local pigments to create unique works on paper. Dar Drouj itself, with its stunning ornaments, tiles, and wood carvings, was an endless source of inspiration. The medina of Fez, with its maze of streets and magical light, also provided constant visual material. Every walk through the city felt like a ‘visual safari,’ returning to the riad with countless ideas and images. During my stay, I created around 30 works, with more following in my home studio. It was a joy to showcase this work in July 2023 at the Weefhuis in Zaandijk during the 'Duetten' exhibition alongside photographer Dennis Atjak.
