Around the corner from Dar Drouj, Youssef has his workshop. He is a furniture maker/restorer and paints the furniture in the characteristic Fes style. With incredible patience and precision, he creates both small and large paintings for mosques, homes, and special furniture for wedding rituals. The works are distinguished by beautiful floral motifs and rich colors. Several of his pieces can be found in Dar Drouj.


Youssef’s eyes light up when he shows you his work. With passion, he talks about his craft, the use of color, and the technique he learned from his father. For generations, this craft has been passed down from father to son.

The local artisans have been of great value in the renovation and furnishing of Dar Drouj. Dar Drouj wants to continue supporting the local community and involving them in the house and its activities in the future.
