Picture yourself in the patio of the Dar Drouj-Riad in Fez: around you, you can see all these beautiful tiles and woodcarvings,
most of them centuries old. You do not need to go outdoors to see a museum, as the house itself is a museum. When you do go
outside, you walk into the narrow streets of the medina in an inspiring world of smells, sounds, colors, and shapes. No wonder
people like Delacroix and Matisse came here to get inspiration! Back to the house: In the patio is a collection of
materials: paints, ink, paper, Moroccan pigments etc. All you need to let your creativity have its way.

  

About Rogier Oversteegen:
Rogier is an accomplished artist and dedicated educator with a passion for visual arts. With a degree in Fine Arts and years of
experience in painting, illustration, and mixed media, Rogier brings a wealth of knowledge to the retreat in Dar Drouj. His teaching
philosophy centers on creating a nurturing and collaborative environment where participants can express themselves freely.
Rogier encourages experimentation and personal storytelling, helping artists of all levels unlock their unique creative voices.

At the retreat, Rogier will lead engaging workshops that blend fundamental techniques with innovative approaches, all while
drawing inspiration from the vibrant culture and stunning landscapes of Fez.

What to expect during the week?

 • As a teacher in a highschool based on Montessori principles, I will not tell you what to make or how to make it. I will help you find
your own way of expression and help you choose the best material to create what you want to create. 

• We will go into town several times on what I like to call ‘an image-safari’ and we will spend a lot of time painting and working
together in our improvised studio; still, you will have a lot of time to decide what you want to do. And most of all, we will enjoy
ourselves and feel the inspiration of this beautiful place.
