THE FOUNDER & TEAM: HOW IT ALL BEGAN

Halim
–A true jack-of-all-trades and a hardworking individual you can always rely on. Humble and dependable, Halim cycles to Dar Drouj daily, often bringing delicious treats. These might be from a real French bakery he passes on his route or a homemade cake from his wife, along with perfectly spiced coffee. He has been with us for about two years, and we hope he stays on when we move from renovating to welcoming guests. He is also learning English.

Abdlilah – Our translator and problem-solver, Abdlilah is known for his charisma and strong personality. He assists with finding the right people for various tasks and zips around the medina on his scooter, knowing it inside out. The entire medina knows Abdlilah; he grew up there and still lives in the heart of it with his wife and son. He has been with us since the very beginning.

We are also looking to add one or two women to our team.

Jennifer and Patrick We live in Zuidoostbeemster, Netherlands, not far from Amsterdam. Jennifer and our two daughters booked a spontaneous trip to Fez, Morocco, as it had always been on their travel wishlist. This turned out to be an unforgettable experience where we became friends with a local family. Over time, our connection with Fez deepened, and an idea to start a project there began to form. Eventually, we stumbled upon this beautiful, character-filled house in the heart of Fez and purchased it in October 2021. Since then, our mission has been to transform this historic home into a sustainable and authentic guesthouse and a cultural, creative, and social hub. Even amidst the ongoing renovations, we've had the pleasure of hosting several guests who have all had a fantastic experience.
